The ordinary retail trade demand continues moderately good for town and country, and although stocks continue heavy and the arrival of the Hurunui and Adamant must cause considerable additions, prices as a rule are unchanged. Brandies are firm at last Quotations, with fair inquiry, and sugars show a further upward tendency. The arrival of the Floral Star from Adelaide, with flour forming only a small portion of her cargo, will tend to steady this market and enable holders to maintain their advance. k - The produce market remains the same as noted last week. Stocks of flour are exceptionally low, and first brands of Oamaru and Canterbury mills are worth £lslos to £l6 10s for sacks, while Adelaide flour is quoted at £lB 10s to £l9 per ton. Oats: Low in stock, in fact none in first hands ; good samples are worth 3s 5d to 3s 6d per bushel. Bacon and hams; Short supply, and worth lOd to lid per lb. Cheese in good demand at 7d to Sd per lb. Butter in kegs: None coming forward ; quoted at 9d to lOd per lb.

Gooff samples Of new crop are wanted, and would command high prices. Oats are in request; the market is bare of stocks; prices, 2s 3d to 2s 9d. Barley of prime quality is inquired for, but none is offered; feeding and milling is saleable at 2s 9d to 3s. CHRISTCHURCH. Friday. The very favorable weather is enabling the farmers to get every thing secured against the return of rain. In transactions, small wheat is offering at 2s fid to ss. the latter price for extra superfine free from sprouted grains; Oats, Is lOd to 2s. Barley, 3s to 4s. Flour, good quality, £ls; forward sales of new have been made at very low rates. Butter, Is. Choose) 6d. Markets very unsettled. * AUCKLAND, Friday.
