MORE LIGHT WANTED.
TO THE EDITOK OP THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sib,—Perhaps some of the "shining lights " in our City Council could explain the, to me, unintelligible reason of carefully keeping the lamps lighted as long as the moon is shining, and then as carefully having them extinguished as soon as the moon goes down. The only conclusion those who are not in the secret of this novel economy can arrive at is, that now the rain has come to us in sufficient quantities to enable the water to be partially turned on, our wise and worthy city senatorshave been suddenly struck with the happy thought of "saving" the gas. We ought indeed to congratulate the Council on their new and rigid ideas of economy, at the same time trusting that the expense thus spared may at' least be laid out in some way more directly beneficial to the citizens. —I am, &c, Lox Sit.
