WOODGATE'S EXECUTION.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sib, —I observe that the Sheriffs Act Amendment'Act 1863,- says :—“ It shall be the duty of the Sheriff of the district in which the execution is to take place. to carry out the said sentence.” Mr. Travers says because the Governor is named in the Constitution Act as the person to prorogue the. Parliament, therefore he must hot delegate that duty, but doit personally. ~ Now, I am no lawyer, but it would be' interesting to know from Mr. Travers if, under this clause, the Sheriff can delegate this interesting, duty ? And if so, what is the distinction between the two cases I—l am, &c., Hangman.
