CASTLE POINT HIGHWAY BOARD.
A meeting of the Castle Point Highway Board was held at Tinui on Saturday, the 6th inst. In the absence of Mr. Yorke, who had to attend the first meeting of the East Wairarapa- County Council, Mr, Langdon occupied the chair. ■ The Clerk read' the ; minutes of the'last meeting, when they were confirmed. The Treasurer read the financial statement, showing balance in bank of. £666. The ,Overseer'B report was then read and discussed. A number of letters were read from fatepayers in the neighborhood, asking for grants towards improving the roads. One from the Provincial Government, stating the quantity of j Crown lands in the district, and commenting: on the high assessment placed upon them by! the district assessor.
Resolutions were then passed in reference to] the different requests made, and an election for a Warden for No. 7 Ward was appointed to be held at Akiteo; but no date was fixed, as it was understood that a gentleman who would likely be' elected was absent from the district. . ■
The wages accounts were then passed and paid, and the next meeting was ■ appointed for Saturday, the 10th 'February, at 11 a.m. A special meeting to be held on Saturday, the 13th, to consider the new valuation list. :
