. A congregational tea meeting took place in the church'.'last evening, arid > was " well attended. ' .'The tea was all that could be desired, and was dorie ample justice to by those present. After 'lea a public meeting took place. John Knowles,. Esq., occupied the chair, and delivered a short and appropriate address. Mr. Wait then read the report and balance sheet for the year, ending December 6, 1876. The total receipts of trust fund were £74 18s. Id;, arid the expenditure £74 10s. 6d. The total receipts for the circuit fund were £lB3 10s, 9d., and the disbursements £l6l 16s. lid., ‘leaving a balance to credit of new school fund of £2l 13s. lOd. 1 ■ The Rev. H; R;Di:w3BUBY then addressed the meeting, and Spoke hopefully regarding the future prospects of the Church. : Mr. Short and Mr. TosrPKixs, of Sandon, both made short and practical - addresses. '
The 'Rev. f Alex. Reid then'made- an eloquent speech, dwelling upon the success of the Church, notwithstanding what had'been said i against Christianity by scientists; evolutionists, and : others.! He; showed the progress- arid power of/the; Gospel' over'thematives; of the ■Friendly .Islands, who were now sending forth missionaries to carry’-the glad tidings to the natives of New Guinea. .-’’ After aTetvlreraarks. fronr Mri J.
