CRICKET.

A match was played on Saturday on the Basin .Reserve between the Rising >tar Cricket Club and the Thorndon Cricket Club, and resulted, as will be seen by the scores below, in .a victory for Thorndon by three runs. The match was decided by the first innings, as there was not time to play it out. There was nothing very noticeable in the play of either side, except the bowlingof Luke for Thorndon, who secured all ■ the - wickets of the Rising Stars with the exception of two who were run out. We might mention to the captains of our young cricketers that their field was very badly placed.' Many runs might have been saved had this been looked after. We hope to see this mended in the future. The above remarks may be taken to heart by the skippers of our older cricketers. Appended are the scores : THORNDON C. C. Ist innings. 2nd Innings.
