STAR CRICKET CLUB.

The annual meeting of the above club was held in the Pier H )tel last evening. There was a very good attendance of members, Mr. Bromley being in the chair. The secretary and treasurer read the following report for the Beason 1875-76 ':—

" I have much pleasure in congratulating you upon the success of the club during the past season, we having been victorious in eleven out of the fifteen matches played by us, of which the first eleven won seven and lost one, and the second eleven won four and lost three. Mr. I. J. Salmon being the highest average scorer, has the honor of winning the bat annually presented by the club, and Mr. J. A. Salmon takeß the bat as the best aggregate bowler. "The receipts for the past year were £36 12s. 6d., and the expenditure (including the sum of £3 14s. lOd. paid to the secretary, being the balance due to him from the previous season), £34 lis. 4d., leaving a credit balance of £2 Is. 2d. There is still due to the club by members the sum of £23 12s. 6d., which if members will settle at once will not only enable us to clear off the liabilities of the club, which are at present £lO 145., but also to purchase new materia], which we are sadly in need of. I cannot close my report without urging upon members the necessity of being more regular, not only in attendance at practice, but also in paying their subscriptions. I ask that subscriptions be paid with more punctuality, because I find that the duties of the secretary and treasurer are sufficiently onerons without saddling him with the liabilities of the club, as it very often happens that he is, for want of funds, obliged to draw on his private resources for the benefit of the club." The election of officers was then proceeded with, with the following result: Mr W. Bromley, President; Messrs. W. J. Salmon and W. Mace, Vice-Presidents ; Mr. J. A. Salmon, Secretary, Treasurer, and Captain ; Messrs. I. J. Salmon, Bond, Garwood, _ Haughton, Mason, Gouge, and Russell, committee. The following new members were admitted to the club :—Messrs. Garwood, Brassy, Carpenter, Remington, and Mitchell. It was decided by the meeting that the uniform of the club should be altered to white shirt and light blue cap ; and that the first match of the season should be played with the Armed Constabulary C.C. next Saturday week.

The analyses of bowling and batting will be published in a subsequent issue.
