The new 3 received of a rise in the value of sugars led to a few transactions in that article, but stocks were not sufficiently large to offer great inducements to speculators. Prices have gone up to £3 per ton in Melbourne, and a proportionate advance is now asked by holders here—quotations being now IC, £45; C, £42; yellow; £3S per ton d.p. • In colonial produce there is no change: except m the article flour, which has sustained a further improvement and is firm at £l3 10s. to £l4 per ton for sacks in trade lots—stocks light; potatoes are also in demand, and worth £4 10s. to £5 per ton; keg butter, dull, at Is. for prime cure ; cheese, full stocks, at 9Jd. to lOd. per lb. ; bacon and hams in fair supply, cloth packed, being worth 9d. to lOd. per lb.; oats, dull, at 2s. 3d to 2s. Bd., according to sample. BY TELEGRAPH. ■ AUCKLAND, Friday. Mr. Buckland reports :—Fat Cattle, 355. perlOOlbs.; then fell ss. per lOOlbs.; fat sheep, 31s. 2d. Mr. Saunders reports :—Buyers : Bank of New Zealand, £lB 55.: South British. 565. 6d.; New Zealand Insurance. 795.; Loan and Mercantile, 395. Sellers : National Bank, 70s. Mr. Binney reports:—Flour, star, £ls: superfine, £l3; southern, £l3; maize, 4s. Sd.; oats. 2s. 10d., sharps, £8; bran, £7: bacon, 10d.; butter, lOd. to Is.; cheese, 9d. to 10d.: jams, 7s. Cd. to 7s. 9d.; potatoes, £5; oatmeal, £l4; barley, pearl, £24. DUNEDIN, Friday. Wheat comes forward very slowly, and prime milling samples, which are wanted, command up to ss. 6d. per bushel. Barley is still almost unsaleable; milling has sold at 2s. 6d., but malting qualities have not been dealt in. Oats.—Stocks are very scarce, and I all good samples arriving meet with ready sale.at 2s. to 2s. Id. for good feed, and 2s. 2d. to 2s. 3d. for milling and seed samples.
