George Tant was arrested the previous day at the Te Aro polling booth by Sergeant Monaghan, for creating a disturbance striking James Lawrie. As the prisoner had received provocation from Lawrie by the latter having thrown a small quantity, of flour over him, his "Worship dismissed the case with a caution. EMBEZZLEMENT. George Falcon Matthews was sent to gaol for one month for embezzling 7a, the of his employer James Mortoa, on the 10th April last. VAGRANCY. Elizabeth Burke, a notorious character, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for the above offence. BREACH OP PUBLIC-HOUSE ORDINANCE. Edward McLean, of the Rainbow Hotel, Kaiwarra, was charged with having sold drink in his licensed house on Sunday, the 10th inst. The police said the house was not conducted in a proper manner. The defendant was fined £lO and costs. BREACH OP POLICE ORDINANCE. James Lawlor was charged by Constable Ryan with discharging firearms on the public road at Kaiwarra.. Several witnesses proved that the defendant was not in the locality at the time, and the charge was dismissed. [ William Robinson, George Earquhar, and Walter Jenkins were also charged with the same offence, on the Ngahauranga road, on Sunday, the 2nd inst. They'were strongly cautioned by his Worship not to repeat the offence, and let off with a penalty of 103, each and costs. " William Aisher, a small boy, pleaded guilty, through Mr. Buckley, to a similar breach of the law, and was discharged with a caution.
