Gbahamstown, Saturday. An inquest was held yesterday on the body of George Mackay, who committed suicide the previous day by cutting his throat at the Pacific Hotel, Grahamstown. The jury without leaving their seats found a verdict of temporary insanity. Ghbytown, Saturday. The complimentary dinner at Carterton last night passed off well. Mr. Carter, though suffering from the coach accident, spoke well for half an hour. Featherston, Saturday. Thomas Wedderley has cut his throat on the Peatherston-road. The wound is not so bad but that he is expected to recover. He has been taken to the Greytown Hospital. Wanganui, Saturday. Mdlle. De Murska has had a couple of magnificent houses, and gives an extra concert on Monday by particular request. She leaves for Wellington on Tuesday, to fulfil a short farewell engagement. Christchurch, Saturday.
Dr, Turner was brought up this morning and sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for escaping from gaol.
