COMMERCIAL.
The import trade of the past week has been duller than for some time past, and no transactions of any importance have come under notice. Kerosene is unusually low in stock, and holders are asking 2s. sd. to 2s. 7d. per gallon d.p.; sales to arrive per .Ada Wis well have been made nt Is. 7d. to Is. Bd. in bond. Currants are also firmly held for sd. per !lb., and salt £slos. to £0 per ton. With these exceptions quotations continue at about similar rates to our last report. In New Zealand produce, keg butter of prime quality is worth Is. 3d. to Is 4d. per lb., very liitle coming forward, but the market is overstocked with old and inferior cure. Cheese, stocks ample, moving of slowly at 91d. to lOd. per lb.; bacon and hams in full supply at 9d. to lOd. for new season’s cure. The price of flour has advanced 10s. per ton in Canterbury during the past week, and holders here are now quoting £l2 10s. for Oamaru and Canterbury mills, for sacks, in trade lots. There are full stocks of oats, which move off at 2s. 3d. to 2s. sd. per bushel for good feeding sorts ; milling oats being worth 2s. 7d. to 2s. Bd.
