It is known from a letter recently received in Wellington that, upon reaching England, Mr. Bridges was called upon to resign his seat upon the directorate of the National Bank, and subsequently did bo. The cause of the matter was undoubtedly, and was indeed expressed to be, the action taken by Mr.

Bridges last year in connection with his well-known accusations against Sir Julius' Vogel. It is pleasant to know that the National Bank, under its present colonial supervision, is not likely to be implicated in such a disagreeable affair as that now past and gone, and this should be evidence to the directors of the great advantages attendant upon having their business in the colony under the control of a gentleman so well qualified to carry it on as Mr. Buchanan.
