A DISCLAIMER.
TO THE EDITOR. OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir.—As a rule I take no notice of anonymous articles, but your correspondent “ Tipster” has made an assertion affecting my character lor humanity. I beg distinctly to deny that my horse Templeton, in running for the Wellington Cup, was flogged all the way up the straight, as he stated. I would sooner lose a race twice|over than ill-use so honest a little animal, and my boy would not dare to do a tiling that I always forbid. He only had a stamp of a whip, which he merely shook at the horse, giving him a touch or two as he neared home. After reading your report I examined the horse, and found him as I expected, without a mark. I will not make any remarks about his want of taste in criticising the decision of the stewards in the Selling Race.—l am, &c., E. W. Delamain. Wellington, December 15.
