THE COMING RACES.

[By Merlix.] On Saturday morningthe training Ground was visited by a large number of persons, anticipating that there woidd be plenty of galloping done. However, their hopes were not realised" for very few of the horses were sent round. Three of Redwood's were the first to show up —Guy Fawkes, Korari, and Banker. The conspirator bowled along in splendid style, and if his inward stamina were to be judged by his outward appearance, I should be inclined to go the "whole hog" for him, but unfortunately he is not so good as he looks. Karori is in grand form—can go the pace and do the distance easily. A sight of Bankers' mode of travelling only strengthens my formerly expressed opinion that the company he is to be bought.into are much too good for him. To cut out the running for Redwood's horses he will prove very serviceable, perhaps, but his short, cowlike jumping style, in my opinion, will preclude his figuring in the judge's list. Cocksure next took a turn by himself, and made a very favorable impression. Voltaire and Voltarine also did a couple of miles at a rattling pace, and Premier and Lady Grey followed. Phoenix was taken three times round at top speed, Mr. Myrtir himself piloting. The mare has far too much beef on, and before going half the distance there were bellows to mend. Princess Mary, a very pretty little mare, did a couple of miles capitallv, notwithstanding that she is rather racked by recent sharp work; and Fishhook, Mr. O'Brien's Derby horse, was sent on a solitary spin. He forges along very strongly, but I fancy Cocksure and Daniel O'Rorke will be too much for him. Tainbourini and a host of others were ont exercising, but did not do a spin. Possibly they may go this morning, as well as Glenavy, Flora McDonald, and Firetail. I have not seen Glenavy, who is engaged in the Cup at 7st. 61b., and know nothing of his condition. From what I have seen on the training ground, I believe the following will be about the results of the racing, supposing the horses run. upon their merits, and putting on one side any arrangements as to declarations to win : MAIDEN PLATE. " Cocksure- Lady Grey Pungawerewere ' SELLING RACE. ■ Firetail . . WELLINGTON CUP. Korari "Voltaire Templeton PROVINCIAL PLATE. Voltaire (if he starts) Premier Glenavy DEKBT. Till the result of tile first day's racing is known th« chances seem to be— Daniel O'Rorke Cocksnre Fishook
