CHRISTCHURCH. (From the Lyttelton Times of Saturday.) Grain and Produce. —Transactions during the week have, in consequence of the holidays, been of a limited character, and we therefore repeat last week's quotations:—Wheat, 45., at Christchurch station ; oats, 2s. 3d.: barley, nominal; butter, Dd.; clieeso, Bd. to Bsd, (for prime old); potatoes, 405., nominal. There is little or no demand for cither grain or produce for outside markets; consequently the, export business is very dull. Provision curers reports:— Haras and bacon, bare. Hid.; in cloth. Is., free on board at Lyttelton. Stock and Stations. —Our report for the week jnst ended is a mere matter of form, as every one has

given himself up to holiday making, and consequently no business worth recording has been transacted. The Show and Races have, however, attracted a large concourse of people from all parts of the colony, and no doubt a large amount of business will arise from so many people interested in stock being brought together. The weather has been most exceptional for the season of the year, and Monday was such a day as fortunately is seldom experienced during the summer months in New Zealand. The old adage about the “ill wind,” however, holds good in this instance, as the heavy rains we have lately experienced will have a most beneficial effect on the country, although they have interfered very materially with the farmers’ holiday doings. BY TELEGRAPH. AUCKLAND, Monday. Mr. Alexander Saunders reports:—Sales : Colonial, 80s.; Cure, 11s.; Beach, 90s. Sellers : Bank New Zealand, 3425. 6d.; Sash and Door. ISOs.; Caledonian, S7s. od.: Bismarck, 10s.; Tairua, 12s, Cd. Buyers: South British. 505.; National Bank, 755.
