The sailing of thes.s, ladybird, advertised to leave for Northern ports yesterday, was unavoidably postponed until this day. The s.s. Ladybird, Captain J. C. Andrew, arrived in habor at 7 a.m. yesterday, from Lyttelton and Port Chalmers. She left the latter pirt at 4.25 p.m. on the 30th ult., and arrived at Lyttelton at 220 p.m. next day. Sailed at 115 p.m. of the Ist November, and arrived as above. Captain Andrew reports light westerly winds and fine weather to Lyttelton; from thence to arrival fresh southerly breeze, with cross seas. She leaves again this day for Picton, Nelson, Taranaki, and the Manukau. Thes.s. Stormbird, Captain Doile, left Wanganui on Saturday, the 30th, at 9 p.m., and crossed the bar at 9 45 ; was off Cape Terawitti at 10 a.m. on Sunday, iut owing to the strong S.E. gale and heavy sea Captain Doile bore up for Ohau Bay, and anchored there at 11 30 a.m. The weather having moderated yesterday morning, she weighed at 7 o'clock, and arrived alongside the wharf at 1 p.m. From Ohau Bay to port had strong S.E. wind and heavy sea. Passed the s.s. Otago, bound south, outside the Heads, and reports the three-masted schooner Melaine, belonging to Mr. E. Pearce, at anchor in Worser Bay. The schooner Herald arrived in harbor yesterday morning from Lyttelton. She left Lyttelton on Thursday last, and" reports very bad weather on the coast. The barque Harriet Armitage, Captain E. The captain reports having left Lyttelton on Thursday last, and having had dirty ■weather all the way. "We have not been able to ascertain the name of the brigantine at anchor down at the'Hutt, but believe it to be the Omaha, belonging to Captain Fairchild, and Captain Mailler, of the barque Harriet Armitage, is of the same opinion. The s.s. Otago, Captain Calder, steamed from the wharf at 10.30 a.m. yesterday for Southern ports with a few passengers. The s.s. Ph<ebe, Captain Worsp, left the wharf at 4.10 p.m. yesterday, also for the South, and from the list of passengers above, she had a full share. The s.s. The smart little steamer Kiwi, under the command of an old coaster, left at 5.30 p.m. for Castle Pointand Napier, with a fall cargo for the two places, and also some for Porere, at which place she calls on her return trip, and loads with wool for this port. The p s. Manawatu, Captain Evans, left the wharf at 6.15 p.m. yesterday for Wanganui, with a full ! cargo and a few passengers. The s.s. Wellington was towed to the slip at Evans Bay yesterday afternoon by the s.s. llangatira, to have a fotirbladed propeller shipped, in lieu of a three-bladed one : also for cleaning and painting her bottom. She will proceed South on the sth, for the Canterbury Races, and should, alter the heavy expenses being laid out on her, meet with full expectations. The Bhip Kinfauns Castle, Captain Kidd. will clear from the wharf this day (weather permitting), and sail on the first opportunity for Newcastle. She certainly turned out her cargo in first-class order. Prom Newcastle her destination Is uncertain, but is believed to be China.
