There were but two vessels that entered at the Customs yesterday, neither of them with large shipments. Increased activity may be shortly anticipated, as advic-ss inform us that the Border Chief, with a large general cargo from. London, and the May, with a full cargo of Chinese produce, are daily expected to arrive at this port. In addition to these shipments, the barques Edwin Bassett left Newcastle on the 22nd, the Anne Melhuish on the 23rd, and the William Ackers on the 25th nit.—all bringing full cargoes to this port. _ . w The smart filing ketch Falcon, Captain Fisk, left Wellington on Tuesday last, for Blenheim, at 9 a.m., and arrived at that port the same day at 8 p.m. She sailed for Wellington on Thursday morning at six o’clock, and made Wellington Heads at 8 p.m. The wind not permitting her to enter, she anchored there until yesterday at 9 a.m., and finally came alongside the wharf yesterday at 11, a.m. The Falcon passed the brig Robin Hood working to the northward. - The Border Chief is this day ninety-eight days out from London. She brings to this port a large general cargo consigned to Johitston and Co., and thirty intermediate, steerage, and second class passengers. The Halcione has discharged all her inward cargo, and has already taken in a small quantity of tallow and wool as an instalment of her outward cargo, anv amount of wool and tallow coming in. She will shortly take up her old berth, which is now occupied by the Teviotdale, as it is near the woolsheds. Her berths are fast filling up, and persons who arc desirous of securing passages by this fast and commodious vessel will have to take time by the fore-: ■ lock to make sure of their berths. The schooner Cynthia left Kaipara on Wednesday last at 3 p.m., accompanied by the schooners Florence for Wanganui, and Amaranth for Taranaki. She experienced fine weather to Terawiti, and .then experienced a strong N.W. gale. Anchored at the Heads till 8.30 yesterday, when she was enabled to sail into harbor and drop anchor at 9 a.m. . The Teviotdale has finished her ballasting, and will, if circumstances permit, haul off into the stream this day, the Halcione taking her place. She has taken In altogether about 666 tons of ballast. The Teviotdale will sail for the City of Palaces at the very first chance she gets. ‘ „ , , _ . The Colonial Government p.s. Luna, Captain Fairchild, sailed for Foxton last night.
