HUTT LICENSING COURT.
The adjourned meeting of commissioners for the Hutt district was held at the Lower Hutt yesterday. Present Messrs. J. C. Crawford, Esq. (chairman’, Alfred Ludlam, George Beetham, and William Beetham. Mungaroa Hotel.—Aim Collins was the applicant, for whom Mr. Buckley appeared. The Inspector of Police opposed the license, because at the annual meeting certain conditions had been imposed which had not been complied with. The conditions were, that the license should bo transferred to Mr. Mabey, and that certain necessary improvements in the accommodation should be effected. The license had not been transferred. Mr. Buckley made a stateneut on behalf of his client, from which it appeared that Mr. Mabey had taken possession of the house on the 7th of this month, and the improvements had been already commenced.—Taking into consideration the circumstances related by Mr. Buckley, the commissioners stated that they would grant the license, A license was granted to Mr. Hodder, of Pakuratahi He was, however, cautioned to keep his house in better order, and afford more complete accommodation, the Inspector having complained of a want in this direction. Criterion Hotel, Upper Hutt.—Mr. Harris was the applicant. Inspector Atchison stated that the house was dirty and badly managed. The commissioners directed the licensing clerk, Mr. Baker, to communicate with Mr. Harris, to the effect that his license would be cancelled at the next quarterly meeting, if further complaints of this character were received. The meeting then adjourned.
