In the import trade during the past week there are few changes to report; business has been moderately good, and although stocks are rather in excess imsome instances, and prices are kept down in consequence, we do not consider that importers have much reason to despond. Sales by auction are rather more numerous than desirable, but we see no instances of goods being sacrificed, and generally speaking the prices obtained are satisfactory. At R. J. Duncan s sale on Tuesday the following lots were sold: —200 boxes. Carl tea. at 17s, to 21s, 6d.; 75 half-cheats do, at Is. 3d. per lb. d.p. ; 20 tons fine salt, Gss.; American salmon, Bs. 6d. per dozen ; Chicago hams. Is. 2d, per lb.; maize, ss. 24d. per bushel; 20 cases Californian onions, 24d. per lb.; &c, And the same auctioneer, at Mr. J. Oats, no sales to any extent, most of the dealers being supplied; retail lots move off at Ss. to 3s. sd. per bushel- Maize has gone down in value, and sales have been made : at ss. per bushel.
