Luna, Captain Fairchild, arrived in Wellington harbor yesterday at 10 a.m., from Napier. : The captain supplies the following account of his cruise since his departure from Wellington on the T7th Inst.;—The Lnna sailed for Napier on the 17th, 1 and arrived there at 9 a m. on the 18th-'; Three days were passed there in .dredging for the Government moorings, but without success. The moorings have been snnk about a month. On the 22nd the Lhha proceeded to the. Mahia. A-native meeting was held there in reference to securing the title to the land on Portland Island as a site for a new lighthouse. After this business was disposed of, the. Luna, proceeded back to .Napier,- where she arrived at 4 a.m. on the 23rd. At 11 a.m. the same day she sailed for Wellington, and’arrived as above. Experienced strong S.E wind on the run down from Napier. The Luna sailed at midnight for the Cape Campbell, Nelson, Farewell, and Mana lighthouses, for the purpose of supplying them with three months provisions and oil, and is expected to return on Tuesday next. The s.s. Albion cleared Port Phillip Heads at C p.m. on the 17th Inst, and passed the Sisters at 10 aim. cn the 18tb. She arrived off Hokitika at 12.30 p.m. on the 22nd, and off Greymouth at 4 p.m. on the same day. She left Greymouth at 4.40 p.m,, and arrived at Nelson at 3 a.m, on the 23rd. She left Nelson at 3 a.m. on the 24th, and came alongside the Qneen’s wharf at noon yesterday, having made a passage of nine hours from Nelson to this port. She experienced light winds and calm weather to Hokitika, from Hokitika to Cape Farewell strong northerly wind with high sea and a deluge of rain. From thence to Nelson head winds, and from Nelson to Wellington light head winds and pleasant weather. The s.s. Napier. Captain Butt, leftFoxton at 1 p.m. on Thursday, and anchored in Oahau Bay from midnight until 4 a.m., arriving in harbor at 9 a.m. yesterday. She experienced a strong S.E. breeze, with heavy sea, off Cape Terawiti. The s.s. Egmont, Captain Irvine, left Wanganui at 2 a.m. on the 22nd, and arrived at Rangitikei at 1 p.m, the same day. She left at 4 p.m. on the 23rd, and arrived in harbor at 0,30 a.m. yesterday. She experienced fresh S.E. breeze to Mana, and from thence a stiff breeze and heavy sea. The Stormbird left Wellington at 10 p.m. on Wednesday—blowing a gale of wind from the N.W. Went through Queen Charlotte's Sound and French Pass, and arrived at Nelson at 3 p.m. on Thursday. Very severe weather. Discharged cargo, and sailed for Wellington at 11 a.m. yesterday: experienced strong 8.8. wind, and arrived at Wellington at II p.m. The three-masted schooner May, belonging to W. and G, Turnbull and Co., of this port, la now seventy days out from Foochow. She brings a full cargo of new season's teas, rice, and Chinese goods on owners’ account. The May made the run from the same port last year in sixty-three days. The August left Foochow on the 24th July, for Dunedin, with a cargo of tea, being eight days after the departure of the May. The s.S. Easby may be expected to arrive here on Tuesday morning, and after discharging 200 tons of coal will proceed at once to Newcastle.
