During the latter part of the day the barometer fell a little, and a heavy easterly swell set in at Timaru and Oamaru. The Colonial Government p.s. Luna left for Napier yesterday morning. She will be engaged for the ensuing week in shifting moorings. The s.s. Stormbird, Captain i oile, left the Corporation wharf, Wanganui, at 10.20 a.m. on Thursday, and arrived at the Queen's wharf, Wellington, at 2 a.m. yesterday. Experienced strong S. W. wind, with a heavy chopping head sea, all the way. She left for Wanganui with passengers and cargo yesterday evening at seven. The p.s. Manawatu, Captain Evans, arrived in Wellington Harbor yesterday morning at 5. She left Wanganui at 10.30 on Thursday last. Experienced strong S.E. wind, with heavy sea, off Terawiti. After taking a full cargo, she left again for Wanganui yesterday at 5 p.m. More than the usual bustle prevailed on the Queen'3 wharf yesterday. In addition to the four London ships there were also the steamers Easby, Otago, and Phcebe, besides some vessels of lighter tonnage, busily engaged all through the day in loading and discharging cargo,- and merchandise of every description was passing and repassing in all directions. Some of the heavier items had to remain on the wharf, as it was found impossible to remove them by the close of the day. The s.s. Napier left for Foxton yesterday with passengers and a full cargo. The departure of the s.s. Otago for Southern ports ■was unavoidably postponed from tho advertised time of sailing until 8 p.m. yesterday. The brigantine Sarah Pile, 115 tons, arrived ye: t;rday with a full cargo of produce from Dunedin via Oamaru. She loft Dunedin on the J 2th inst., arriving at Oamaru same day; discharged part caigo and took in flour, and left on the 15th at 6.30 p.m.; was abreast of Cape Campbell at midnight of the 16th, and arrived yesterday afternoon at 3 p.m. Captain Wynd reports strong N.E. wind witli smooth sea until reaching Cape Campbell, then light wind with heavy cross Boa. She is consigned to Thos. W. Pilcher. '
