Mails close at the Chief Post Office, "Wellington, as follows: For Napier, per s.s. Kiwi, this day, at 4 p.m. For Plcton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Manxucau, per s.s. Taranaki, on Monday, at 11 a.m. - For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s. Ladybird, on Monday, at 3 p.m. For Napier and Poverty Bay, per s.s. Rangatira, on Monday, at 4 p.m. ' For Wanganui, per p.s. Manawatu, on Monday, at 6 p.m. Edw.uid D. Butts, Chief Postmaster. The steamer Albion is expected to leave Hokitika, at 11 a.m. this day, the 4th instant. Telegrams* for the Australian colonies or Europe via Java cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph office, for transmission to Melbourne up till 9 a.m. of the 4th instant.
