The Crusader, from New York, has brought a considerable cargo of American goods, and over 2000 cases kerosene, and the Young Cick, from Melbourne, with a cargo of sugar and sundries, has also put in an appearance, otherwise our wharf would be comparatively vacant of foreign bottoms, the English ships having finished discharging. The Easby also brought several large shipments of sugar from Sydney. There is no change In the value of English imports, although a fair and steady demand fpr most description of goods in general consumption continues to be felt, and trade generally may be considered healthy. Sugars, notwithstanding large imputations. are unaltered in value, Adelaide is in fair inquiry, but we hear of no sales to any extent; quotations vary from £l3 10s, to £l4 ss. per ton, according to parcel and brand, Kerosene is overstocked, and difficult to move in parcels at Is. 9d, to Is. 10s. per gallon, d.p. Spirits at last week’s quotations, little business doing beyond retail'trgd® wants. The produce Wade hits Quiet, and stocks move off at moderate rates. Keg butter is somewhat IfCver, and sales are reported at lid. for prime : some holders are asking 12d., but as the season passes and the demand lessens, they will be obliged to realise, and will regret the opportunity of getting Is. 3d. per lb., which they so unwisely refused some time back. Cheese is very scarce, and worth lid. to Is. per lb. for good; hams and bacon equally scarce, and in demand at lid. to 12d. for sides. Is. 4d. per lb. for hams cloth packed. Flour continues depressed, stocks being heavy, and the low price of Adelaide interfering with the sale, we cannot quote best brands of Canterbury and Oamaru Mills higher than £ll to £lllos., for sacks, in bakers’ parcels. Oats, heavy stocks, and the demand somewhat slackened ; prime quality of feed oats are worth 3s. to 3s. sd. per bushel, according to parcel. Potatoes, in fair demand at £5 15s. to £6 per ton.
