McLean sold by auction to-day a lot of heavy draught horses, lately the property of Owen, Jones and Co., railway contractors, Auckland, at from £37 to £4O; light ditto. £2O: light hacks, £0 to £lO. Three of the Auckland horses are yet on hand, and will be offered again on Saturday.
HOKITIKA, Thursday. At the sale vard’s, Arahura, beef averaged 425. Cd. per lOOlbs. There are no sheep in the market. The right to collect tolls at Kawhaka and Omotumotu gates was sold at auction to-day by the Provincial Government The former fetched £1550, and the latter, £615.
