The ship Forfarshire encountered a severe cyclone on Mav 9, which carried away her main and foretopgallant masts and several sails. The immigrants are all well PORT CHALMERS, Thursday. Arrived : s.s. Wellington, from Lyttelton. Sire leaves here on her return trip at 10.15 a.m. to-morrow. LYTTELTON, Thursday. Arrived: Ship Lanarkshire, from London, 102 days out. There has been no communication with Fiery Cross, for the Manukau. and the Mary Blair for Newcastle; Australian Sovereign ana Hopeful for Newcastle. The s.s. Phcebe, Captain Worsp, crossed the Mann; ian bar at 12.30 p.m. on the sth; arrived at Taranaki at daylight on the Cth, but was detained in the roadstead until the afternoon, owing to the slowness with which the cargo was taken from the vessel by the surf boats. Sailed at 4 p.m.. arriving alongside -Nelson •wharf at 10 a,m. on the 7th ; noon, and arrived at Picton at 8 p.m.; sailed again at 9.40 p.m. t and arrived alongside the Queen’s wharf at 8.30 a.m. yesterday. Experienced fine weather and variable winds throughout. She brought a large number of passengers. Including the Wellington Football team, from Nelson. - She took her departure for Southern ports shortly after 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. > The steamers Stormbird and Manawatu arrived from Wanganui vesterday afternoon. Both vessels crossed the Wancanui bar shortly after midniehfc of the 7th, and arrived at the Queen’s wharf within a few minutes of each other. The Oreti, brigantine, cleared outwards yesterday in ballast for Havelock. _ , _ , -The fore-and-aft schooner Flying Cloud cleared outwards yesterday, with & cargo of railway material for Manawatu. , _ , The s.s. Egmont left last evening for Wanganui and Hangitikei. with a full general cargo. -Per telegraphic advices received yesterday by the s.s. Mikado, we learn that a North German ship flying the following numbers, 8.D.8.G., was spoken on the Ist of Mav, 25 days out from Hanover to "Wellington. This will be the immigrant ship Xammershagen from Hamburg. She is now 92 days out, and her number ought to be run up at any moment. The'William Fining and the Collingwood, from London, should soon put in an appearance, both vessels being over 100 days out. The barque Heversham arrived from Newcastle early yesterdav morning with 090 tons of coal and 40 cases of oranges. Captain Yule reports leaving Newcastle on the 23rd ultimo, and experienced moderate and favorable winds from the N.AV. to N., which lasted until the 29th, the vessel then being within 135 miles of Cape Farewell The wind, however, chopped round to the eastward, increasing to a heavy gale, with thick and rainy weather, which continued up to the 4th. From that date until sighting Cape Farewell on the 6th, had fresh S.W. winds: then got the wind from the westward, and ran through the Strait, fetching Mana Island on the morning of the 7th: from thence till arrival had to beat up against fresh S.E. winds. The American-built topsail-schooner Canterbury was put up under the hammer yesterday by Mr. Vennell. Several bids were made, the highest offer for her being £725, which was, however, within £175 of the reserve price, and the vessel; therefore, was withdrawn. The arrivals for the month of .Tune were as follows:—Steam vessels. 52 : registered tonnage, 10.644 tons. Sailing vessels, 47; registered tonnace, 4745. Total arrivals, 99 ; aggregate tonnage, 10,359 tons. .
