ST. PAUL’S CHURCH.
TO THE LOTTO!:. Sik, —Before committing themselves to the purchase of a larger organ, the congregation of St. Paul’s Church would do well to consider the effect it will produce. In some London churches, too powerful for their size have stifled congregational singing and caused that portion of the service to he left to tile parish children, who. to make themselves heard, have shouted with more energy than appearance of devotion. Tile requisite in such cases is an accompaniment, not a dominating solo. It is very desirable that the advantages expected from the change should be specifically set forth. The statements at the meeting, as reported, were of too vague a nature to be of service in forming an opinion of its merits. When there are such obvious openings for expenditure of money upon matters of move urgent necessity, some further justification of the proposal seems to be called for. —f am, Ac., Ax Occasion Ar.
