A special correspondent got into difficulties recently, says an English journal, while crossing the Republican lines in Spain. He had no passport, but luckily found a bill in his pocket from Poole, the tailor—paid, of course. In despair, he produced the document, which has, as is well known, various imperial and royal arms on the heading. The official was much puzzled; he asked for the meaning of the figures—asked by pantomime—and was answered iu pantomime—that they were the correspondent's measurements. The correspondent then pointed to the penny receipt stamp and signature on it, which was at last considered sufficient evidence of an official

All Entries and Acceptances must be under sealed cover, addressed to the Secretary, and contain entrance money, sweepstakes, name, age, and description of the horses, and the colors of the riders. A penalty of £2 will be enforced on any jockey riding in wrong colors. No person allowed to enter a horse unless he be a subscriber of at least £2 2s. to the funds, which must be enclosed with the entry.
