MR. DULLER AND THE WASTE LAND BOARD.
TO TUB EDITOR. Sir,- Referring to your report of proceedings before the Waste Land Board on Friday last, I beg to observe that I said nothing about a “breach of trust” on the part of the Superintendent, What I did say was, that the sudden withdrawal of the land from sale, while it was actually under offer to me, and before I could examine it, had the appearance of a breach of faith. This was the argument used by the Commissioner himself at our interview with the Superintendent and Mr. Bunny on Monday morning. I feel bound to say that his Honor treated mo throughout with the utmost candour and courtesy. And I can only account for the course adopted on the supposition that a sum of between £.OOOO and £7OOO, which I had just paid in to the Receiver of Land Revenue, had relieved the Government from the necessities of the hour—that, in point of fact, I was “hoist with my own petard,"—l am, &c., Walter L. Bulleii, AVellington, March 15. [Our reporter, who is a competent short-hand writer, has a very clear note of the proceedings at the Waste Land Board, and he adheres to the strict accuracy of his report.—Eu. N.Z.T.]
