Tea 129 17 C shipping &c. 28 17 10 Coffee and chi- . cory .. ..0 0 0 £2023 710 Trade has been moderately brisk during the past week, but owing to the large stocks of most goods on hand, prices remain unaltered, and we hear of no transactions calling for special comment. Bottled beers are difficult of sale, at 11s.; and 12s. per dozen for favorite brands of ale and stout, Brandy, both in hulk and case, has moved off freely, at a small concession on our former quotations, the large quantity in bond serving as a check to any rise that the high rates on the home market would otherwise naturally lead to. Flour is still quoted at £l3 and £l3 10s. for bakers’ parcels. Oats are impossible to quote, as buyers are holding back, in anticipation of very low rates. Advices from the Southern ports quote new oats Ss. 6d. f.0.b., ns the lowest price per bushel they are likely to reach: so that wo do not think prices here will go lower. We quote new oats, 4s. to 4s. 6d,; old, 4s. 3d. to 4s. Dd. Keg butter is improvingin value, and is quoted at lOd. to lid.; owing to holders keeping back their stocks—otherwise there is no de mand for export. ’ BY TELEGRAPH. AUCKLAND, Friday/ Mr. Bnqkland reports:—Fat cattle abundant, prices slightly lower; best, 225. to 2 53. i»er 100 lbs.; inferior, from Is. Sheep, average number, 3d. per lb. Mr. W. G. Binney reports;—Grain market unsettled. Wheat. 4s. t045.0d.; flour, £l2 to £l3; bran' £6TOs.; pollard, £G -IDs. to £7; oatmeal, £24; pearl barley, £26: oats, 4s, 3d. to 4s. 6d.; maize, ss. 6d. to ss, 9d.; cheese, 9d,; haras and bacon,'ls. 3d.; barley,. none; butter. LONDOK : MARKETS. ‘ ' NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE.' : K The latest reports to band are to the 22ud December, but they add little to those of‘‘the 15th'of‘that month, published on the arrival of the English mail via San Francisco. We quote the following;—‘ ’ ■ Horn*. —There have been no transactions to report. The last prices obtained were—New Zealand, to 12|0z., 35a. to 50s. ,6’d., av,,7.t0 9|oz., 16s. to 30s. per 123. i New Zealand Hemp. —There is still no improvement to report in the position of this fibre. -The business for the month has been of very limited ex : tent, but the few parcels that have changed hands have been sold at steady prices. At the auctions the 450 bales brought forward were nearly all bought in for want of offers. Stock Ist December, 1972 tons against 1871 tons; Imports since Ist January, 1700 against 3174 tons; and deliveries,-1660.against 1668 tons.
Tallow continues steady, with only a moderate demand, as is usual at this period of the year. 'Prices are again rather better; we now quote fine Australian sheep, 435. 9d. to 445. Cd., aud beef 435.'6d. to 445. per cwt.
