THE VOLUNTEER PRIZE FIRING AT THE THAMES.
The All-Comers Match was commenced at 9 o’clock this morning. Eighty-eight men entered, divided into five squads. From the scores it will be seen that better shooting was made than during the Government firing, as better ammunition was used than that supplied by the Government. The protest against Skinner was considered last night, but the result has not yet been declared. Skinner says he is willing to shoot ■with any rifle ; that he never fitted sights. Colonel Lyon says the protest cannot be entertained as there is no evidence that the sights were tampered with. Lieutenant Dey, when bathing this morning, in diving drove a stump of a snag into his right side. He bled a great deal, and was carried to the hospital. The wound is thought serious.
