[Press Telegraph Agency.] Auckland, "Wednesday. Miss Christian's farewell concert —tendered by the Choral Society—was a most brilliant affair : the best of the kind that has occurred in Auckland for yeara. The half-yearly meeting of the New Zealand Insurance Company was held to-day. A dividend was declared of 20 per cent, amounting to £IO,OOO. The premiums received were upwards of eleven thousand pounds in excess of those for the corresponding half-year of 1873. The directors' report stated that although the proposal to Bell shares did not meet with the response anticipated, the shareholders availed themselves of the opportunity of taking up the balance of unallotted shares. The shares were now more widely distributed, the company consisting of nearly three hundred members. The total premiums for the half-year were £55,548, and the losses £41,177. Messrs. James Williamson and J. B. Owen were reelected directors. Grahamstown, Wednesday. The sample of gold brought down from Ohinemuri, found in the Waitaki block, can Bcarcely be called alluvial, althoiigh found in the drift. There are some small particles of quarts adhering.
