Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follows: For San Francisco, per St. Leonard?, on Saturday’, at 11 a.m. (for specially addressed letters only). For Napier, Castlepoint and Poverty Bay, per s.s. Rangatira, on Monday, at 4 p.m. Fop "Wanganui, per p.s. Manawatu, tliis day, at 4 p.m. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s. Ladybird, on Saturday, at 1 p.m. Edward D. Butts, Chief Postmaster. The steamer Albion is expected to leave Hokitika at noon on Saturday, the 3rd instant. Telegrams for the Australian Colonies, or Europe via. Java Cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph Office for transmission to Melbourne up till ,10 a.m. of the 3rd inst.
