BY TELEGRAPH.

WANGANUI. September 7.—7.30 a.m. Arrived: Stormbird, from Wellington. Captain Bletben, formerly of the Nevada, is Chief Harbormaster at San Francisco. Captain Hardinge, late of the Nebraska, is sheep-fanning in Sonomo Co. The following is the report of the trip of the barque Record Left Newcastle on the 20th August. On the 27th, had strong winds from the south-west. Moderate weather till Thursday, the 3rd September, when it blew from the south-west, freshening to a strong gale, ship laboring heavily. Gale continued next day till towards evening, when it took off. On Saturday, there was a strong breeze from north-west and west. Came-to off the lighthouse at 2.10 p.m., which finished the voyage. Got under weigh Sunday Cth. and t acked into the heads, getting up to anchorage off the Pier at 1.30 p.m. The Record passed the brig Robin Hoed, on Wednesday the 2nd inst., in latitude SSdeg. lomin. south, and longitude IMdeg. 44min. east. The b.s, Bruce.— The Harbor Steam Company have received a handsome and useful addition to their already handy fleet of coasting steamers, by the arrival of the s.s. Bruce, 204 tons, Captain Macfarlane, from Glasgow. She is a new steamer, built to the order of the coraps.ny, and docs both her builders and her owners credit by the manner in which she has been turned out. As a coasting steamer, she will certainly become a favorite, for there is not a saloon in all those which trade on our coast which will match the saloon of the Bruce. The engine-room is about amidships, and during the passage out was under the charge [of Mr. John McKenzie, who is to be engaged in her as second engineer. Her engines are compound. Tie cylinders are respectively 37in. and 23in. diameter, and of a nominal power of 90-horse, capable, of course, of working to a much greater power. Their makers are Messrs. Stephen and Son, Glasgow. The shaft is Sin. in diameter- The Bruce is 150ft-' keel and 180 ft. over-all, 22ft, beam, and 10ft. 6in. depth of hold, and came out under barque rig, and accounts for her long voyage by not being sufficiently rigged, being too deeply loaded, and light and varying winds. —Otago Guardian,
