(^ ENTLEMEN,— In reply to your requisition, and in accepting your invitation to become your Candidate — I have very little to say on the general topics of the day, the ground having been travelled over by almost every candidate. Suffice it to say, that I give the same pledges which were carried at the meeting of the Electors, of which 1 was chairman, on "the evening of the 27th July last. Holding as a fixed axiom that responsibility on the part of the elected to .the electors, is the grand key to all representative government, and that this responsibility cannot be made too binding.
