AUCKLAND.

The Lands of New Ulster. — An almost unprecedented demand for town, suburban, and rural lands has just taken place. At Papakura, section after section of that rich and fertile territory has found eager^>urchasers. At the embryo township on the North shore, immediately op"pos ; te to Auckland, every allotment has been disposed of. In Auckland itself, the Government does not own more than atlozen allotments ; and private parties willing to sell, and who a few weeks since might have hawked their properties in vain, have found numerous bidders willing and eager to purchase. We trust our fellow- colonists will observe prudence in this new-born spirit of speculation. — Southern Cross, December 21. Since Saturday several parcels of gold and Auriferous quartz and sand have been brought to town. M. Hugh Coolahtm (who has been, for several weeks past, personally engaged at Coromandel in persevering efforts to determine the worth of the new Gold Field) arrived with some ounces of gold dust, between fifty and sixty ounces of gold* bearing quartz, and about 1 71bs. of black sand intermingled with gold^ — the whole stated to be the product of the labours of seven men in one week. Mr. Crawford, from Waiou, has brought, in addition to some dust and nuggets, a fine specimen closely resembling that brought up a few weeks since by Dr. Thompson, — but larger. The LieutenantGovernor has purchased this for £7. Mr.

Landers has also brought up a remarkably large and fine specimen of gold quartz, obtained near Mr. Coolahan's diggings. Some of the specimens were sold, in conveniently small lots, by Mr. Hantard, yester.lay ; and the most extensive sale yet announced is advertised by Messrs, Connell and Ridings for this day. — New Zealander, December 22.
