The New Tariff. — The following are the duties leviable under the new Customs/ Act, which came into force on Thursday morning :—: —
Ale, porter, and beer of all sorts, Hi wood, s. d. per gallon .. J) 1 Ale, poiter, and beer of all sorts, in bottle,^ pergallon 0" 2 Coffee, chocolate, and cocoa, per lb. . . . . 0 Of Currants, raisins, and other dried fruits, perlb. .., o Oh Spirits, or strong waters, of the strength of proof by Sykes' hydr >meter, and so on in proportion for any greater or less , strength, per gallon, viz. : — - Brandy .. 6 0 Gin.... .. " 6 0 Rum, whiskey, and all other spirits, pei gallon .-. . . 4 0
Perfumed spirits of- whatever strength, in bottles, for every gallon . • . . • • • • All spirits, liqueu'-s, cordials, bran died fruits, or strong waters, respectively sweetened or mixed with any article sothat the degree of strength theieof cannot bcascertained by Sykes' hydrometer, at the rate ot per gallon . . . » Refined sugar, per cwt Unrefined sugar, ditto Molasses, ditto >■ Tea,perlb. •• ,** j* ". Manufactured tobacco, per lb., 1 1s. 6d. until the 31st December, 1853, and thereafter per lb • Unmanufactured tobacco, per lb., Is. until the 31st December,-1553, and thereafter. .
