ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE. To the Editor of the "New Zealand Spectator. " Wellington, July 30, 1852.

Sir, — As a spectator in the Supreme Court on Tuesday last, when the cases of Mr. Robinson and- Mr. M'Kenzie were heard, and of which there is a garbled report in the Wellington Independent of Wednesday, I cnunot withhold, my testimony to the fact that, so far from the Judge

evincing a feeling of anger or warmth, his conduct throughout was marked by-a feeling of kind consideration for the defendants, but at the same time shewing a determination not to allow one or two technical objections which were pressed upon him to prevail in defeating the ends of justice. The leading article in the Independent of that day is a malicious continuation of '.lie original offence, which both the defendants and their Counsel have admitted were altogether unjustifiable. I am, Sir, Your obedient servant, Fair. Play.
