On Saturday the half yearly inspection of the 65th Regt, was held on Te Aro, by his Excellency Lieut. Colonel Wynyard, Commanding the troops in New Zealand. His Excellency was attended by Brigade Major Greenwood, and Ensign Wvnyard, Aide-de-Camp, and the Staff of the Southern District, consisting of Lieut.-CJonel M‘Cleverty, commanding troops, Brigade Maior O'Connell, &c. The troops presented arms on his Excellency’s arriving on the ground, and marched past with the colours of the regiment in slow and quick time. After the evolutions usual on such occasions, his Exce lency expressed his warm commendations of the efficiency and discipline of the corps. On Monday his Excellency inspected the Barracks, Military Prison, Hospital, Ordnance Magazine and Store, and on Thursday leaves Wellington on a visit of inspection to the detachment stationed at Porirua, and from thence proceeds on the same duty to Wanganui.
