The Lyttelton Times of 15th November, states on the authority of the London Observer that Mr. Justice Chapman is appointed Colonial Secretary of Van Diemen’s Land. There is m al! probability some mistake in the report, at all events we believe the learned Judge is not very likely to exchange the quite of the bench for the turmoil of the Colonial Secretaryship ; and we are assured that there is no immediate prospect of a vacancy in the bench here, as arising out of the rumoured appointment.
