HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

An exhibition of this Society took place on Wednesday last, at the Britannia Saloon. The articles exhibited were chiefiy in the department of flowers, and tKough not numerous were of a superior description, particularly the roses. We also noticed some fine ranunculus and petunias from Mr. Ludlam’s garden, and a magnificent collection of flowers arranged as a bouquet, exhibited by Mr. St. Hill. Vegetables. first prizes. His Excellency Sir George Grey left Wellington on Thursday for Otaki and Manawatu. The Government Brig proceeded this morning, to Manawatu for the purpose of meeting his Excellency, who intends visiting in her the Pelorus, and Nelson, and who will probably be absent from Wellington about three weeks.
