TV" HERE AS by certain Letters Patent ’ ’ under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom, bearing date the 23rd day of December, 1846, full power and authority is granted to the respective Governors of the Provinces of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the respective Executive Councils thereof, to issue Proclamations appointing the limits of Counties, Hundreds, Towns, &c., within the said Provinces : And it is further declared that the Lieute-nant-Governor for the time being of each of the said Provinces shall exercise all powers and privileges thereby and otherwise howsoever vested in the Governor for the time ■being of any such Province : Now therefore, I, the Lieutenant-Gover-nor of the Province of New Munster aforesaid, in pursuance of the authority vested in me by the said Letters Patent, do hereby proclaim and declare that for the purposes of the Cattle Trespass Ordinance, No. 17 ■of Session 7, the boundaries of the township of Akaroa in the Middle Island of New Zealand, shall be hereafter known as follows : Bounded on the North by the northern extremities of Hippolite Gendrofs, Pierre Benoit’s, and James Dulac’s land, and from thence in a direct line to the northeastern extremity of Pierre Gendrot’s land, on the South by the southern extremity of C. B. Robinson’s paddock fence, and also; by the southern extremities .of Malcolm M'Kennon’s and James Reid’s .present cultivations, on the East by an almost direct line from the north-eastern point of Pierre ■Gendiot’s land, taking in Mr. Watson’s garden and Francois Ldlieve and Francois in snclie’s Isnd. -frnin ’tlioiiGS in .** direct line to the south-eastern extremity bf James Reid’s cultivations, and on the West by the Harbor and the German Bay Road. "TVTIEREAS by an Ordinance enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council, Session VIII, No. 5, intituled “An Ordinance for regulating the Slaughtering of Cattle in ■certain places,” it is enacted, “that it shall be lawful for his Excellency the Governor ■(or Lieutenant-Governor) by Proclamation from time to time to constitute and define certain Districts, within which the provisions of the said Ordinance shall come into ■operation. Now therefore, I, the Lieutenant-Gover-nor of New Munster aforesaid, in pursuance of the authority by the said in part recited Ordinance in me vested, do hereby proclaim and declare that, on and after the first day of May next, the towns of Lyttelton and Christchurch, in the Canterbury Settlement, and a distance of three miles around each such town in every direction, the limits and bounds of which towns respectively being such as are described and delineated in the authorised plans of the Canterbury Association, shall come within the operation of the said Ordinance.
