A deputation of the owners and occupiers of land in the Karori district waited on the Governor-in-Chief on Thursday, for the purpose of endeavouring to obtain the assistance of the Government in putting the Karori road in a state of repair previous to the approach of winter. We understand his Excellency promised, on the part of Government, to advance for these repairs' a sum equal to the amount to be raised by subscription by the inhabitants of the district. A subscription has since been entered into which amounts, we are informed, to upwards of one hundred pounds.
