[From the Government Gazette, Sept. 14.] 1 PROCLAMATION. By His Excellency Edward John Eyre, Esquire, Lieutenant-Go-(L. S.) vernor of the Province of New Munster, in the Islands of New Zealand, &c, &c, &c. YI^HEREAS an Ordinance was enacted by the Lieutenant- Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, Session VII, No. 17, entituled " An Ordinance to repeal the Cattle Trespass Ordinance, and the Cattle Trespass Amendment Ordinance, and to provide for the summary recovery of compensation for damage done by Cattle trespassing," it is amongst other things enacted, that " If any Cattle shall be found wandering at large in any street, or public place within the limits of any town or village, which shall be proclaimed by the Governor or Lieutenant- Governor to come within the operation of this present provision, the owners thereof shall forfeit and pay for every head of cattle so wandering any sum not exceeding Five Shillings, to be recovered in a summary way ; and it is also further provided that, for the purpose of this Ordinance, the word Cattle shall be taken to include horned or neat cattle, horses, mules, asses, sheep, goats, and swine." Aov therefore /, the Lieutenant -Governor of the Province of New Munster aforesaid, in pursuance of the authority by the said in part recited Ordinance in me vested, do hereby proclaim and declare that on and after the First day of October, 1849, all that portion of the Town of Akaroa bounded on the North by the River which runs through Raymond Joseph's land ; on the South by the southern extremity of C. B. Robinson's paddock fence, also by the southern extremities of Malcolm M'Kennon's and James Reids present cultivations ; on the East by an almost direct line from the Northern bouudary including the present cultivations of Eli Bauriau, Pierre Joseph Rousoleau, Francois Lelieve, and Francois Melmanche, and from thence in a direct line to the south eastern extremity of James Reids cultivation ; and on the West by the harbour ; shall come within the operation of the said in part recited Ordinance. Given under my band, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of New Munster in the Islands of New Zealand, at Government House, at Wellington, this 29th day of August, in the 1 Year of our ' Lord 1849. I^HEREAS the undermentioned OrdiV * nances, enacted by the LieutenantGovernor of the Province of New Munster, with, the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, were passed in the Twelfth year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, viz. : — No. 1. An Ordinance for the Naturalization of certain persons in the Province of New Munster. (10th May, 1849.) No. 2. An Ordinance to define the qualifications and to provide for the examination in certain cases of Medical Practitioners. (18th May, 1849.) No. 3. An Ordinance to prevent Entire Horses and certain other animals from being suffered to stray or run at large. (Bth June, 1849.) No. 4. An Ordinance to prevent the extension of the infectious disease called the Scab, as well as the disease called the Influenza or Catarrh, in Sheep or Lambs. (Bth June, 1849.) Which Ordinances having, in accordance with the requirements of Clause 1 1 of the Provincial Councils Ordinance, been referred to the Governor-in-Chief and sanctioned by His Excellency, have now received the Lieu-tenant-Governor's assent.
