THE SEAT OF WAR. [From the Strait Times, March 26.]

We have received late, accounts from the Funjaub. Another and more decisive battle has been fought, in which the enemy has been completely discomfited, with heavy loss. It appears the enemy resolved to march on Lahore, but were interrupted by the timely advance of the army under General Whisb. Shere Singh, thus foiled, fell back on Gujerat, and on February 21st, Lord Gough attacked him. The enemy was completely routed at all points, abandoned the whole of their camp and ammunition, and lost about 3000 men, whilst the casualties on our side did not exceed 250 in killed and wounded. The British force captured twenty-eight guns. Tbe Affghan troops, under Shere Singh, charged our batteries four times, but were beaten off with grape with great loss. The following are the principal casualties on our side: — Killed. — Captain Anderson, Bengal Artillery ; Lieutenant Day, ditto ; Captain Lloyd, ti.M.'s 14th Dragoons ; Lieut. Sprott, 2nd B. E. regiment. Wounded. — Captain Hutchinson, Bengal Engineers ; Major Campbell, H.M.s 53rd regiment; Lieut. Stannus, commanding C. in C.'s escort ; Sir Richard Shakespear ; Mr. Cocks, Bengal Civil Service. The battle lasted three hours. Our cavalry was in full pursuit when the express left.
