ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE. To The Editor of The New Zealand Spectator. Wellington, 18th June, 1849.
Si«,— Although the footpath along Lambton Quay, wVieh has been formed by public subscription, has been placed under the protection of the Footpath Ordinance, yet the provisions of that law remain, in effect, a dead letter, since on different parts along the beach the footpath is used with impunity by eques'rians, persons with trucks, &c, and unless some steps are taken to prevent it, the path will soon be broken up and become as bad as it was last winter. Surely directions should be given to the police to inforce the law by lading informations against the offenders. I am, Sir, Your obedient servant, A Pedestriav.
