Which Ordinance having been by the Right Honorable Earl Grey, one of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, laid before the Queen," Her Majesty has been graciously pleased to confirm and allow the same, as "a proof of Her Majesty's approbation of the services of the said Chiefs. Now, therefore, I, the said Governor-in-Chief of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and make known to all whom it may concern that Her Majesty has been graciously pleased to confirm and allow the before mentioned Ordinance. Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Islands of New Zealand, at Government House at Auckland, in the Province of New Ulster, this Fifth day of March, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty-nine. Colonial Secretary's Office, Wellington, 16th April, 1849. rpENDERS WILL BE RECEIVED at J- this Office on or before Saturday, the 28th instant, from pei sons willing to contract for the conveyance of the Mails to and from Wanganui and Wellington during the twelve months ending the 31st May, 1850 (leaving bags at any required places on the line of Post). The Mail must pass once each way every week : and the Mail from Wanganui must be delivered at Wellington ! alw ays one clear day before the next Mail from Wellington starts. Government will, as at present, provide for the passage of the Mail on the Mail days across the rivers where ferries are established — free of expense to the Contractor. The Contractor will be required to state the mode of conveyance he proposes to adopt, and the period within which the transit each way will be accomplished. The contract will commence on the first of June next, and securities will be required for its due performance. The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest tender. Tenders to be in duplicate, sealed, and endorsed " Tender for conveyance of Wanganui Mail." By His Excellency's Command, Alfred Domett, Colonial Secretary.
