Hdrrib'oyine Wintringham 0 10 The above four horses .started for this race, Barbiere, Slipper, and Independent halving been withdrawn, the horses kept very well together at starting ; at the first hurdle they all cleared, Vampire taking the lead, and they kept pretty well s together in this -order to the fourth hurdle, when Beagle and Harrybogine threw their, riders, who however quickly remounted, , and recovered their ground; at* the fifth 1 hurdle, all ih,e horses fell one after the other, the riders being all thrown ; they remounted" however, and Vampire came in first and Harrfiogine second, but owing to the riders having dismounted before they rode up to the weighing Atand they los€ theft places. / ' ;-' t5 i|S^ In the'- second, beat all the horses cleared the first hurdle ; Harrybogine in going over threw his rider who quickly' recovered from His fall, at the second hurdle itaty/e refu»ed, Vampire kept, the lead duringthe first part of the" heat, closely followed Jjy Harrybogwe an'^l^ay/e a$ the last hurdle, he was. passed Yty~%[drryl)ogme who came in firstin good styles mi 'j ! si" - '''""' In the third heat Harrybogine refused the
first hurdle, which his rider coufd -btfno iaeans induce him to take, 1 the 'rate taeteifore lay between the other 'three' horse's, 'Bushman began to take the leac^alfter clearing the first hurdle, which he subsequently maintained; at the fourth hurdle Vampire fell, which gave an additional chance to the other horses, but BusTinu.n still kept the 'lead, which he maintained to the winning post.

At starting Gay Lad was the favourite/ Pastile being hardly thought of. Pastile', however, took the lead, and kept it, Jenny' Lind being distanced by running on the- wrong side the distance post. Gay Lad ■ entirely disappointed the. hopes of his backersj and in the second heat the mare won in a canter. ■ '
