BURNHAM WATER RACES.
On Monday and Tuesday the annual races at Burnham Water took place. A considerable degree of interest was excited from the number of horses entered for the different races, all the best horses in the settlement having been named to run. 1 The course had been a good deal improved since*' last year's meeting.but owing to its sandy na,ture was still heavy in ( many parts. The assemblage of persons op. the course the first day. was fully equal to; if not greater than, that of last year, the equestrians mustered in great force; while vehicles of every description were put in requisition for the conveyance of passengers, and there was also a considerable number of pedestrians. On the second day the attendance, was not quite so numerous. Booths were erected in the neighbourhood of the stand by the different inn-keepers for supplying refreshments. ' The weather on both days was extremely favourable, and we are glad to say that the whole passed off without the' occurrence of any accident.
