WESTERN AUSTRALIA.
The Swan River Gazette contains the following return of the revenue and expenditure of that colony for the quarter ending March 31 : — Colonial revenue, £2373 Os. Bd. Expenditure, Parliamentary Grant, £1873:14:5; colonial fund, £2573 15s. 7d. ; total, £1447 10s. Great complaints having been made at Swan River of the export duty often shillings a ton charged on sandal wood, it was suspended for six months. The foundation stone of new schools in connexion with the convent of the Sisters of Mercy, was laid at Perth, on the 3rd May,' by Bishop Brady. Lieutenant M'Gill, of the 96th regiment, stationed at Penh, went an a visit to a friend aUout the middle ot May, and was not afterwards heard of. It was supposed the unfortunate gentleman had missed the track, and lost himself in the bush. Thirty-one coolie labourers arrived" at Swan Rivjr in May.
