ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE. To the Editor of the New Zealand Spectator. Goathurst Farm, Wellington, 22nd May, lB4B.

Sir, — I am induced by the receipt of a most singular letter from a Mr. Gibson of Devonport, to whom 1 had some time since written, on ascertaining that he was the owner of the section alluded to, as well as by a most unjustifiable statement he has thought it right to publish, by way of notice in the New Zealand Journal, without writing to ascertain the real facts, to request you will do me the justice to allow me to state through the medium of your paper, that he refers me for explanation and a letter to his son, who has been recently residing with us, but had left previous to the arrival of such lett<a\ and from which circumstance I am unaffle to learn his supposed ground of complaint, but in the meantime I beg to say the statement he has so thought fit to make is quite at variance with the fact, and that so far from my being a squatter, as charged, I hold the land in question, and which joins the section on which I reside, under a regular agreement signed by his recognized agent, Mr. Clifford, and which was prepared by the solicitor of Mr. Clifford on his behalf. I am, Sir, your obedient servant, Jas. Symons.
